Sunday Morning Small Groups

The Journey class is a multi-generational small group facilitated by Rev. Larry McRorey in Room 102 of the Fellowship Hall. This class is currently discussing Adam Hamilton's series Facing Issues That Divide.  Policy issues addressed in this study include, politics and keeping the faith, immigration, Islamic extremism, healthcare, and gun control.  Conversation is guaranteed to be as diverse as the makeup of the group.  After donuts and coffee, discussion begins at 9:45 am.

The Walk class meets in Room 104 of the Fellowship Hall, and is taught by Larry & Martha Shoemaker. This class is all ages, and is described as a group who laughs, cries, shares life experiences and explores scripture. Lively and thought provoking discussions are found with this group.

The Foundation class meets in the church office, and is comprised of mostly 40+. They study books of the Bible by chapter and verse with discussion as relevant to today. The class also chooses Ray Vander Laan studies and/or a topical study approximately once a year. Conrad & Nancy Nightingale, Don & Kathy Giles, and Karen Hoskelis rotate the teaching of this group.

The Adelante class, which meets in Fellowship Hall Room 103, is currently using the Immersion Bible study series to read through the Bible from Genesis -Revelation. We are seeking wisdom from the scriptures for guidance in today's world. Stop by any Sunday to visit this "young at heart" study group.

Sunday's in the Chapel is a time to pray with our Prayer Team during Small Groups. If you are not able to come by, just let us have your prayer request card and be assured that as we lift your requests to God, knowing we do so with sensitivity and reverence.

Bible Studies

The Monday Morning Women's Bible Study meets in the Fellowship Hall from 10:00am - 12:00pm each week and is led by Karen Hoskelis.

In Israel’s Mission—part of the That the World May Know video Bible study series—author and Bible teacher Ray Vander Laan takes you on a journey through Israel to explore what it means to be a kingdom of priests in a prodigal world. Discover the mission that God gave his people many centuries ago and how that impacts us today.

Learn to Guard What God Has Entrusted to You: In this 6-session Bible study, Beth will encourage you to guard what God has entrusted to you, further His kingdom by sharing Christ with others, and pour into future generations just as Paul once mentored Timothy. This study will begin Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 5:30 pm in the library and is facilitated by Cathy McRorey.  The participant books are $13 each and the money for your book can be given to Cheryl in the church office. Please contact Cathy for more information.

Dead Sea Scrolls: On January 11th at 10 AM in the Fellowship Hall, we will begin a new DVD course taught by Gary Rendsburg of Rutgers University on the Dead Sea Scrolls.  These scrolls were part of the library of the Essenes, a Jewish Sect, which lived in Qumran, Israel, about the time of Christ’s birth.  They were initially discovered in 1947 by a Bedouin shepherd who was chasing an errant goat into a cave.  This was eventually determined to be the greatest archaeological discovery of the 20th century.  The course includes 36 lectures. We will meet weekly in the Fellowship Hall for an hour and a half each class.  During that period, we will view two 30 min. lectures and discuss each.  The course will end on March 22nd.  Bob Major will facilitate the discussion.

The Thursday Evening Bridlegate Bible Study meets each week from 6:30pm - 8:00pm at a church member's home in Bridlegate. As the locale varies from week to week, please contact Roberta Himebrook at 830.460.0242 for specifics. Some members of the group meet at various local restaurants at 5:00pm before Bible Study for food, fellowship, and fun. This group meets year-round, and covers various studies. They are currently working their way through Ray Vander Laan's works. For more information & directions contact Lacy Whitaker at 830.285.5751.
